Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Parli mobile app and the website at parlimusic.com (together, the “Service”), operated by Heath Gerrald, an individual based in South Carolina, United States (“Parli,” “we,” “us”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Parli. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Parli only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms.
2. Your account
You sign in with an email one-time code, Sign in with Apple, or Sign in with Google. You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping access to your email or sign-in provider secure. Tell us promptly at support@parlimusic.com if you think your account has been misused. You can start permanent account deletion in the app or through our account deletion page. Requests already scheduled in earlier app versions keep their displayed deadline and may be canceled before that deadline.
Email communications
We may email you about your account and the Service. Optional emails may include learning tips, practice reminders, progress summaries, new songs and stories, app updates, and Parli offers. Where applicable law permits, these optional emails may be sent unless you opt out; where consent is required, we ask for it first. Accepting these Terms does not replace any consent required by law.
In app versions with email preferences, you can manage learning emails and Parli updates in Settings > Email preferences. You can unsubscribe from optional emails through the link in an optional email or by emailing support@parlimusic.com. Unsubscribing does not affect your access to Parli. Essential account and service messages may still be sent. Our Privacy Policy explains these email categories and your choices.
3. The Service
Parli helps English speakers learn beginner Spanish through original songs, short stories, spoken introductions, and word cards, with XP and badges. We may add, change, or remove features and content over time. Parli is an educational tool; we do not guarantee any particular learning outcome or level of fluency.
Parli is currently free to use. If we introduce paid features, their price and terms will be shown before you buy, and purchases will be handled by Apple or Google under their terms.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- copy, download, redistribute, or publicly perform Parli songs, stories, or other content outside the app, except as the app allows;
- manipulate XP or use bots, scripts, or other automated means to access the Service;
- reverse engineer, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other learners’ data;
- use a display name that is offensive, impersonates someone else, or infringes another person’s rights; or
- use the Service in violation of any law.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
5. Content and intellectual property
The Parli app, songs, stories, audio, text, lyrics, designs, and trademarks are owned by Parli or its licensors and are protected by law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own non-commercial learning. Some Parli content is created with the help of AI tools and reviewed by us before release.
6. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.
7. App stores
If you download Parli from the Apple App Store or Google Play, you also agree to that store’s terms. Apple and Google are not parties to these Terms and are not responsible for the Service or its support. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
8. Ending your use
You can stop using Parli and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, or stop offering the Service with reasonable notice where practical.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Parli will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, except where the law of your place of residence requires otherwise.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will post the new version here and update the effective date; if the changes are significant, we will tell you in the app or by email. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
